Rumuokwurushi CDC Gets New Executive
Sequel to the recent confirmation of Hon. Kingsley Onuwa Ejekwu as the authentic Chairman, Community Development Committee(CDC) of Rumuokwurushi town in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State by the Ahoada High Court and his subsequent mandate by the same court to conduct election for the members, the election has been conducted and new CDC executive members that would pilot the affairs of the community sworn-in.
Those elected and sworn-in include, Chief Amadi Amadi, Vice Chairman, Mr Victor Chinda, General Secretary, Mr ThankGod Nlerum, Asst Secretary, Isaiah Weli, Financial secretary, Wandi Amadi, Treasurer, Mr George Nlerum, Public Relations Officer (PRO), while Mr Iheanyi Wali and Mr. Lucky Okeah are to serve as Provost 1 and 11 respectively.
In a chat with journalists shortly after the swearing-in ceremony, the CDC Chairman, Hon. Kingsley Onuwa Ejekwu while congratulating the newly elected members, described the election as peaceful, free and fair.
Hon. Ejekwu who expressed his dismay that the community has gone backward in times of education and development assured that he would work as a team with members of the CDC to work out a blue print that will make the community move forward.
The CDC chairman who described education as the bedrock of the society assured that education and security of lives and properties of the people would be his priority.
According to him, “I will ensure that in the next ten years to come, two hundred Rmuokwurushi youths will be graduates in different disciplines, adding that he will ensure a good security network that would enable the people of the area to sleep with two eyes closed.
He further assured that his administration would reclaim the Rumuokwurushi land that were taken by Etche and Eneka Communities, stressing that he will partner with the Rivers State House of Assembly to protect their land.
Hon. Ejekwu who promised to seek the advice of the chiefs and elders of the community when necessary and work with them to move the area forward advised the indigenes to be united and support the new CDC executives.
