Bank Donates To Charity In Aba
Fidelity Bank Plc has donated a Toyota Corolla car and other gift items to the Ngwa Road Motherless Babies Home, Aba, in Abia.
Mr Reginald Ihejiahi, the Managing Director of the bank, said at the handing over of the car key to the home’s officials in Aba on Thursday, that it was committed to bettering the lots of the less privileged.
Ihejiahi, who was represented by Mr Emma Esinnah, the bank’s Group Head, Marketing Communication, said the gesture was the outcome of the visit to the home to identify with its specific needs.
According to him, during the visit, it was discovered that the home had no vehicle with which to take sick children to the hospital at odd hours and made a pledge to provide it with one.
“This is part of the bank’s helping the people programme, and in fulfilment of our earlier pledge which will go a long way in solving the transportation problem of the home,’’ he said.
Ihejiahi said that one of the cardinal programmes of the bank as a corporate citizen was to reach out to people within the area of business, identify their peculiar needs and help to solve them.
He said the bank would continue to play a leading role in undertaking programmes aimed at making life
better for the people that earned it the award of the most corporate friendly bank last year.
Ihejiahi commended the president of the home, Mrs Joy Nwobi, for effectively managing it for the past 46 years.
Chief Bernard Nwulu, the state’s Commissioner for Special Duties, commended the bank while urging other corporate organisations in the state to emulate it.
Nwulu was represented at the event by Dr Tina Ikwuegbu, the Director of Administration in Aba North Local Government Area.
On her part, the president of the home expressed delight with the gesture which she said was the first of its kind for the 46 years the home had been in existence.
“Sometimes, a child could be sick at night hours and there would be no means of getting to the hospital, but with this car now, we are going to work optimally,” Nwobi said.
