Monarch Hails Wike On Road Projects
The recent flag-off of roads in Oyigbo Local Government Areaof Rivers State by the State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike has continued to generate reactions and comments from prominent sons and daughters of the area.
The latest came from the Eze Ala Umuokobo Clan and Paramount Ruler of Obete-Ndoki, Eze Peter Ubadineke Umenta who said the re-construction of the Old Port Harcourt/Aba Road as well as Eleme/Oyigbo road was a welcome development.
Speaking to journalists shortly after the flag-off in Oyigbo recently, Eze Umenta said by this development, the entire Oyigbo people were happy with the Governor for the inclusion of Oyigbo in his development agenda, saying that his people could now heave a sigh of relief and feel a sense of belonging as part of Rivers State.
He noted with concern how the people of Oyigbo were in the past subjected to untold hardship as a result of bad roads which was largely responsible for the backwardness of the area, saying that successive administrations in the state were insensitive to their plight, despite several complaints to them and commended Governor Wike for giving them the much needed attention this time around.
According to him, Oyigbo is strategic to the economic growth of the state and nation, and as such, deserves to be treated fairly like other LGAs of the state, pointing out that as a border community that is rapidly growing in population, there is the need for any in-coming administration to pay special attention to the development of Oyigbo with emphasis on security and environmental sanitation. He said that Governor Wike’s style of leadership should be emulated by the new breed politicians.
The Obete-Ndoki ruler, however, congratulated the Rivers State Governor on his recent awards as Silverbird Man of the Year 2017 and The Sun Newspaper man of the Year 2017, stressing that all these awards of excellence were justification of his hardwork and commitment to good governance resulting from his passion to develop all parts of the state and urged the governor to sustain the tempo.
