Odili Founded Rivers Political Structure – Cookey-Gam
The Chairman, Caretaker Committee of Opobo/ Nkoro Local Government Area of Rivers State, Dr Enyiada Cookey-Gam, has acknowledged former Governor Peter Odili as the architect of the political structure in Rivers State since 1999.
CookeyGam, who made the assertion while inaugurating other members of the Caretaker Committee recently in Opobo Town, headquarters of the local government area, noted that every politician in the state today owed their rise to Dr.Odili’s mentorship.
He, therefore, entreated Governor Siminalayi Fubara to take full charge of the leadership and governance of the state while urging the political class to allow him to initiate and implement policies and programmes on behalf of the people without interference and distractions.
“Rivers people deserve to be given a chance and should not be held hostage by any individual’s interest”, he said, adding that Governor Fubara was capable of truly serving the people and moving the state forward if allowed to function without undue encumbrances.
“If they are insinuating about the rightful owner of the so- to – speak political structure in Rivers State, same is solely owned, packaged, built and single-handedly master-minded by Dr. Peter Odili.
“Every politician you can think of in the state today, no matter the divides to which you belong, remains the product and handiwork of former Governor of the state, His Excellency, Dr. Peter Odili.
“If you build a structure, does that mean you are going to hold the people to the jugular?”
Meanwhile, Dr Cookey-Gam has admonished members of the caretaker committee to be proactive in the discharge of their assignment by ensuring quality service delivery to Opobo/Nkoro people.
He assured them of his readiness to encourage them to perform excellently in their duties.
Those inaugurated include, Hon.Harvey Jim Jaja, Supervisor for Culture and Tourism; Hon.Godwin Manfred Pepple, Supervisor for Education and Hon. Godwin Jacob, Supervisor for Youth and Sports.
The position of Supervisor for Works went to Senibo Dandeson Tumini Diri, while that of Supervisor for Agriculture went to Hon. Eno Peters with Hon. Chiara Fiberesima clinching that of Supervisor for Health.

APC Unveils New NWC At National Convention
Delegates at the convention, held at the Eagle Square, also produced a new national working committee (NWC) through a consensus arrangement endorsed by stakeholders.
Dr Ben Nwoye was named deputy national chairman (south), replacing Mr Emma Eneukwu, following consultations within the party.
Sources within the party said the decision was influenced by zoning considerations and consultations among party leaders, with Mr Peter Mbah, Enugu State governor, playing a significant role in ensuring Dr Nwoye’s inclusion.
In his acceptance speech, Prof. Yilwatda said his re-election was a call to greater service and pledged commitment to unity within the ruling party.
“We are ready to serve, ready to lead, and we are ready to build the party, together with the nation,” he said.
He added that the new leadership would not “fail or falter” in carrying out its responsibilities.
President Bola Tinubu, Vice-President Kashim Shettima, governors, members of the national assembly, and other party leaders graced the convention.
