tions that Nollywood actress, Tonto Dike attempted suicide last week following what observers described as a down turn in her movie fortunes.
Stories circulating in the social media allege that Nollywood actress Tonto Dike has been abandoned by many movie producers due to her alleged rude nature.
In a recent interview, the actress who confirmed that she has not featured in movie roles since 2013 said”. I have worked so hard to get contracts, I will not tell you everything I do, must you know what I do? I do a lot of business, I am an engineer, I have life outside entertainment”.
In a related post in the social media, it was revealed that the controversial actress is currently in a big emotional stress following the gradual collapse of the acting career she worked for over the years.
The actress who has started a down ward trend in her career in Nollywood is currently battling a serious depression caused by loneliness and lack of career success.
Her attitude problem became evident last month after she called Mercy Johnson and her husband fools on Twitter. Tonto called Mercy Johnson a fool for returning to work earlier than usual after giving birth to her baby girl, purity Ozioma in December last year.
Since then, she has experienced disfavour in the sight of many Nollywood movie lovers worldwide for her lack of courtesy when dealing with colleagues.
The actress who said Nollywood brides marry horribly is yet to get any of her relationship working since her drug and alcoholism problem started last year.
Before attempting to commit suicide last week, she was on a movie set with movie director, Chima Okoroji. According to the director of the movie, the actress caused commotion on the movie set last week. She reportedly fought fellow colleagues like Ngozi Nwosu, Kenneth Okonkwo and others.
When she was called to order, she allegedly worked out on all of them. The latest report from Tonto Dike’s friend is that she attempted to kill herself last week following a serious down turn in her career.
We learnt that many Nollywood movie producers have decided to choose Mercy Johnson, Ini Edo or other stars over Tonto Dike due to her rudeness on set. Nollywood insider said it seems the movie producers have ganged up against her.
Sources say if not for the timely intervention of her friends last week Tonto would have died.
According to a source, “behind all the controversies she is generating is a woman who is trying to belong to a society she once belonged “She has lost most of her friends and advisers since she entered depression”, concludes the source.
R&B star, Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems, has recounted the early-career challenges she faced, revealing that she was once booed out of the stage while performing at a school event.
Speaking in an interview with Newsmen, the Crazy Tings crooner shared that she wasn’t only booed but was also harassed with plastic bottles.
“I remember one time I was going to perform at my school as an up-and-coming singer and I thought I was going to receiving a standing ovation.
“But I got booed. They even threw plastic bottles at me,” she recalled.
Tems explained that despite the embarrassing incident and other such rejections, she remained determined to pursue a career in music.
The Tide Entertainment reports that Tems admitted that some of the initial rejections she faced could be due to her conviction to stick to her originality instead of doing covers or familiar sounds like most of her peers.
The Grammy-winning singer said looking back now, she is glad that she didn’t compromise her style despite the initial pressures.
A close associate of late singer Mohbad, Primeboy, has appealed for the artiste’s burial nearly three years after his death.
According to him, Mohbad’s body remains in the mortuary since September 12, 2023, pending burial arrangements.
The Tide Entertainment reports that in a statement Primeboy urged the family, public, and government to permit the burial, stating, “It’s been almost three years since Mohbad left us. His body is still in the mortuary. I’m begging the family, I’m begging the public, I’m begging the government, please let’s bury our brother. He deserves a befitting burial.”
It would be recalled that Mohbad’s death sparked public outrage, protests, and investigations. Ongoing autopsy examinations, police inquiries, and legal proceedings have delayed burial arrangements amid family disagreements and public scrutiny.
