Rotary To Focus On Water, Sanitation Projects
The Rotary Club of Port
Harcourt Central District 9140 has pledged to focus more on the provision of water and sanitations the next one year.
The club president Rotarian Emeka Colman Anyaso, who said this during the induction of the 2014/2015 executive of the club in Port Harcourt said that the club will focus on the provision of boreholes in markets and rural communities while regular sanitation exercises will be encouraged.
Rotarian Anyaso also said that the club will invest public information and awareness campaign across its catchment area with a view to ensuring conflict resolutions and peace in the communities.
He also said that the club will embark on programmes on maternal and child health as well as on education and economic enhancement.
The president said that, to achieve the objectives, members must work as a team.
“Our collective efforts will go alongway in assuaging the needs and enhancing the lives of most of our indigent brothers and sisters “Our club project for this year will give greater attention to provision of water to four lacking communities.
“Youth development through education and enlightenment Programmes with special emphasis on the physically challenged students.”
He said the club will provide wheel chairs to the physically challenged students.
The outgoing president Rotarian John Bosco Onunkwo said that the outgone executive had embarked on several projects among which are; the construction of boreholes in Buayeghe communities in Gokana local government area while some youths were trained to eradicate intellectual poverty in the Niger Delta.
Also speaking the Chairman of the installation committee Rotarian Paul Ben Cookey said the induction ceremony gives Rotarians the opportunity to reaffirm their commitment to the ideals of service to humanity.
