MOC Sets For Lagos Ibile Games
The Main Organising
Committee (MOC) of the upcoming Lagos State Sports Festival, tagged, “2014 Ibile Games”, said that arrangements have been concluded to hold a befitting competition of international standard.
The Games is expected to hold from April 30 to May 10 at eight designated centres.
They are Rowe Park Sports Complex, Yaba, Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere, Jubril Martins Memorial Grammar School, Ipori and Onikan Stadium.
Others are TBS Cricket Oval, University of Lagos Sports Complex, Agege Stadium and Knock-Up Hall of National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.
This is contained in a statement by the MOC and made available to newsmen in Lagos.
The statement said the Lagos State Commissioner for Youth, Sports and Social Development, Wahid Oshodi, had directed various sub-committees to take charge of the departments of the Games.
The sub-committees are Technical, Protocol and Ceremonial, Venue and Facilities, Media and Publicity, Medical, Marketing and Sponsorship, Security as well as Torch Tour.
According to the statement, the multi-sports festival will have teams from schools and Local Governments and Council Development Areas competing for honours.
The events to feature during the competition are squash, tennis, ayo, kokowa, basketball, weightlifting, and powerlifing.
Others are gymnastics, darts, handball, wrestling, badminton, athletics, taekwondo, boxing, chess, volleyball, scrabble, swimming and karate
The rest are judo, cricket, kung-fu, football and table tennis.
