Ikuru Makes Case For Free Primary Education
Rivers State Deputy Governor, Engr. Tele Ikuru, has called on the Federal Government to declare free education for all primary and secondary schools pupils in the country.
Engr. Ikuru made this call Monday during a Six-Hour Prophetic Jubilee PrayerlPraise organised by the Truevine Women International Outreach in conjunction with the Rivers Women Prayer Network and Women of Influence International at the Alfred Diete-Spiff Civic Center, Port Harcourt.
He said this call had become necessary to give access to quality education to children of the less privileged, adding that such gesture would address the low educational standards prevalent in the country and high incidence of criminality among the youths, stressing that it would create a better foundation with youths and redirect their minds from cultism and militancy.
The State Deputy Governor disclosed that the new model primary and secondary schools and other projects being built by the Chibuike Amaechi-led administration in the State would be powered with solar energy, thanking the organisers of the programme for backing the State and the nation up with prayers.
One of the guest speakers, Reverend Mosy Madugba, urged Nigerians to seek God’s direction on how to avert His judgment, calling for fervent prayers to erase the altar of violence which has brought calamity on the nation.
Attributing Nigeria’s underdevelopment to the activities of a cabal that has caged her for years, the gospel minister enjoined the congregation to rededicate a new Nigeria, free from violence and crimes.
Also speaking, Prophet Emmanuel Kure, a gospel preacher, opined that Nigeria had bright future, calling on the leaders to make its new existence from Jubilee a reality, stating that the incumbent President and Governors at Jubilee are priestly president and governors.
He urged Nigerians to appeal to God to forgive innocent blood of citizens wasted during the wars and crises periods in the country, stating that President Goodluck Jonathan is a divinely ordained agent of change in the nation and cannot afford to fail the nation and the world.
Earlier in her welcome speech, the Coordinator of the Truevine Women International Outreach, Pastor (Mrs.) Ene Secondus, declared that the:2010 Jubilee was the beginning of a new circle of God’s honour and blessings for the country, urging Nigerian leaders to pray God to give them the wisdom to manage the nation’s abundant human an natural resources to the wellbeing of the people.
