Rivpoly Boss Tasks Alumni On Fund Raising
The Rector, Rivers State Polytechnic, Bori, Professor T.G.Sokari has tasked members of the Rivers State Alumni Association to play active role during the proposed endowment and fund raising programe scheduled to take place soon in the institution.
Professor Sokari, who gave the charge recently when the executive members of the association paid him a courtesy call in his office stated that the involvement of the Alumni in the fund raising activities will go a long way in encouraging other students to be active in activities of the institution and to also enable the polytechnic achieve set goals.
He called on the association to identify with the aspirations and objectives of the institution.
The Rector expressed joy over the resuscitation of the Rivpoly Alumni Association and stressed that as partners in progress, the association is expected to work closely with the management of the institution to enable it achieve set goals.
Earlier, the chairman of the Alumni Association, Mr Dappa Edwin, who is also a lecturer in the Department of Business Administration and Management of the institution thanked the Rector for giving them the opportunity to visit him despite his tight schedule.
Mr Edwin further stated that the visit because necessary in order to brainstorm in the areas where the Alumni can be involved to move the institution forward.
“It become necessary to resuscitate the Alumni Association, considering the important role the association could play in the development of the polytechnic. The visit to the Rector has also opened our eyes in the areas where we can assist the institution to move forward,” he explained.
The chairman, however, pledged continued support of the Alumni Association to enable the polytechnic function effectively.

The River State Commissioner for Education, Dr Peters Nwagor has called on media practitioners in Rivers State to deploy their various communication platforms toward promoting government programmes and policies aimed at achieving sustainable development in the education sector.
