Rep Tasks Commission On Service Delivery
The member representing Abua/Odual and Ahoada East Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Betty Apiafi has urged the NDDC Board to prioritise the completion of its projects to erase the impression of failure surrounding the Commission.
Apiafi was speaking while inaugurating the NDDC rural electrification project in Abua/Odual Local Government Area of Rivers State.
The project covers 14 communities with a 5.5 kilometre high tension line, 9 transformers and on-going street light fittings expected to cut across the area.
While describing electricity as a catalyst for economic growth, Mrs. Apiafi noted that the project would further awaken the latent entrepreneurial skills of the Abua people. “Most of our youths, who were hitherto idle, will now be fully engaged in one form of business and another.
“To NDDC we say a big thank you, the federal lawmaker declared and appealed for expansion in the scope of the projects to cover new layouts in the communities”.
NDDC coordinator in Rivers State, Mr. Frank Isaiah, commended the communities for cooperating with the Commission during the project execution urging them to sustain the tempo.
He assured the people that NDDC will not deviate from its mandate of taking development to the grassroots across the region.
Responding on behalf of the communities, paramount ruler of Okoboh, Chief Edwin Ikata, likened the feelings of his people to someone set free from prison explaining that “our people lived in the dark for a long time and praised NDDC for making it possible for them to see light”.
