Workers Seal Off RSBoPP’s Office
The corporate office of the Rivers State Bureau of Public Procurement (RSBOPP) has been sealed off by some staff protesting alleged high-handedness, vicitmisation and intimidation by the Director General of the Bureau, Mr Franklyn Nlerum.
The protesting staff, who posted placards round the premises of the bureau, Monday, also called for the sack of the Director General.
Some of the placards read, “Franklyn, you cannot tactically disengage us from work, we are all Rivers Citizens”.
“Franklyn, stop your victimization and intimidation of staff of RSBoPP”, “Franklyn, a dictator and tyrant. Your Excellency, save our souls and the state from Emperor Franklyn Nlerum”, amongst others.
A press release made available to newsmen during the protest, accused Nlerum of witch-hunting and intimidation, adding that staff were being suspended without due process.
They also accused him of incessant seizure of staff salaries on the flimsy excuse of non-submission of productivity reports.
“He had often not allowed staff to observe work-free days declared by the state, so staff of the bureau had always been the odd agency who do not respect state declarations and nothing has happened to him”, they said.
They also accused him of disrespect to human dignity through the use of foul language to address the staff.
Speaking with newsmen, the Manager, Compliance, Mr Victor Lekie Gima, Said that the director general of using all instruments of oppression to cow the staff of submission.
