RPM, Others Bid Former Mayor Farewell
A socio-cultural organisation, Rebisi Progressive Movement (RPM), has bade the former Mayor of Port Harcourt City Local Government Area of Rivers State, Chief Nyeche Chike Woluchor, farewell as his remains are set to be laid to rest, weekend, in Port Harcourt.
The organisation in a statement jointly signed by the President and Secretary General Prof. Levi Doe Kalagbor, and Elder Felix Odungweru, respectively, condoled with the people of Port Harcourt and the immediate family over the loss of their father and brother.
The organisation described late Woluchor as a peace maker and a politician with impeccable character who distinguished himself during his tenure as the council boss.
The statement noted that the former Mayor during his tenure as Mayor empowered women and youths by embarking on various human capital development programmes for these group of persons in the local government.
According to the statement, “RPM regrets his death at this time when the younger politicians ought to have learnt and benefited from his wealth of experience”.
Also, the Mayor of Port Harcourt, Hon. Alwell Ihunda, while commiserating with the family, urged them to take solace in the fact that the late Mayor served God and humanity meritoriously, during his sojourn earth.
Hon. Gabriel Dike, also mourned the passinh of the late former Mayor, describing Woluchor as a “great son of the soil whose demise had created a huge vacuum that would be difficult to fill”.
Dike, the Supervisor for Finance of Port Harcourt Council, during the late Mayor’s tenure, said the deceased was a rallying figure in politics in Port Harcourt Local Government Area.
Dike appealed to his bereaved family to stay strong and take solace in the fact that Woluchor lived a fulfilled life that was worthy of emulation, adding that death is an inevitable end which all mortals must face.
Late Woluchor died in Port Harcourt last Month after a brief illness and would be laid to rest tomorrow.
