Etche Cultural Officer Calls For Revival Of CARNIRIV
Chief Cultural Officer of Etche Local Government Council, Eze Charles .O. Nweke, has called on the Rivers State Government to revive the CARNIRIV cultural festival.
He also called for the documentation of all cultural artefacts across the State.
Nweke, who is the Eze Omenkari 1 of Etche ethnic nationality, said this in an interview with newsmen at the palace of the Onyeishi Agworo, Okehi Clan during a meeting of chiefs of the clan.
Nweke said culture guarantees peace and stability in any kingdom in the world, nothing that in Etche, culture are the ground norm for which their fore fathers have sustained the kingdom.
The community leader also frowned at the attitude of some person’s for attempting to impose another way of life on the people.
Culture promotes peaceful coexistence, any society where people respect their culture there is always peace”.
The community leader also blamed the crisis ravaging some parts of the county on the desecration of their cultural heritages.
“People should identify with their culture so that peace can come”.
Eze Nweke also call on the State Government to revive the annual CARNIRIV cultural festival.
“CARNIRIV should be brought back and given to professionals to handle”.
He also called for the documentation of the State cultural heritages for future generations.
The community leader also stressed the need for the State Government to identify and reward the families of those who brought for the creation of Rivers State with monthly stipend noting that some of them have lost everything in the course of fight for the State.
Nweke also is a member of the Etche Supreme council of Traditional Rulers thanked the Onyeishi Etche Eze E.N.B Opurum for documenting every aspects of Etche culture.
