2023: Lulu-Briggs Indicates Interest In Rivers Governorship
A frontline politician and former governorship candidate in River state ,Chief Dumo Lulu-Briggs, has declared his interest to contest for the governorship position in the state on the platform of Rivers State
Lulu-Briggs made this disclosure while speaking with journalists at the international Airport, Omagwa, over the weekend on his way back from Lagos State, where he received an international award of excellence on Oil and Gas for 2021
He averred that building an inclusive state, where every politician irrespective of the political party of his interest would be paramount for his administration, saying that what is needed most is a peaceful environment that would foster peace and further development in the state .
According to him, the present administration in the state under the leadership of Chief Nyesom Wike has done marvelously well across the state, adding that the governor needs to hand over to somebody with the same zeal and strong determination in the development and transformation of the state.
“Governor Wike is my friend and lover of Kalabari people. He gave my father a state burial and built ring roads in Kalabari Kingdom. He will support me and rest assured that will develop the state. The governor has done well in his own time and needs someone to continue from where he will stop, “ he stated
He advocated for power shift from the North to the South in 2023 general election, saying that such clamour should not evoke any form of argument in line with the doctrine of national cohesion .
“This is the time for power shift. We have the potentials in the South who can lead the country. The North has held the power for eight years and should give the South the opportunity too. This also should be in the State because we have this upland and riverine dicotomy ,so its time for a riverine governor in 2023,” he stated
The Rivers born politician urged his supporters to be optimistic and not despair, adding that he would focus on the diversification of the state economy through tourism, agriculture and ICT so as to ensure he put food on the table for both citizens and residents in the state .
