Wike Planning Future Rivers, SSG Tells Critics
The Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Tammy Danagogo, says the ongoing massive infrastructure development in the state is for the future.
He spoke against the backdrop of the multiple flyovers being built in the capital city Port Harcourt as he carpeted critics as not being foresighted enough to appreciate Chief Nyseom Wikes’ vision.
In interactive session with some journalists, last Wednesday in Port Harcourt, Danagogo said a lot of people will not understand the need to upgrade the city infrastructure till Wike leaves office.
“For me, the flyovers he has built are not even enough. We need more flyovers. Port Harcourt needs to be a 21st century city,” Danagogo asserted.
He argued that even the legendary first governor of the state, Alfred Diete-Spiff sited most of his legacy projects in Port Harcourt because as the capital city it needs the best.
In this light, he said Wike is building on that legacy to make sure that in the future, the state meets up to pressure that may arise from expansion and congestion.
Aside the city, the SSG cited other landmark grassroots projects like the Saakpenwa/Bori Road, Abonnema Ring Road, Andoni/Opobo Unity Road and the newly awarded Trans-Kalabari Road.
“As I talk to you now, the Trans Kalabari Road has been awarded. I am a Kalabari man, and I know that the project has suffered setbacks since Odili administration. That road has more than four spurs to connect the Kalabari areas”, he stressed.
He disclosed that the first phase will take 14 months to complete and has been awarded to LuBriks Construction Company an outstanding indigenous construction firm.
Danagogo said the Kalabari need to be thankful and support the Wike administration, noting that Wike has carried every part of the state along in his administration.
