Onowu Tasks Non-Indigenes On Street Trading Order
As part of efforts by the Rivers State Government to eliminate all forms of illegal street trading which has defaced the city and constituted great nuisance in the streets of Port Harcourt and its environs, the Commissioner for Special Duties and political leader of non-indigenes in the state, Hon Onowu Emeka Anyasodike has intensified sensitisation visits to non-indigenes who trade in the major markets and streets in the state.
The sensitisation tour, which commenced last Wednesday, took the commissioner to the major markets in Port Harcourt, the state capital.
Onowu, while speaking to thousands of traders re-echoed the resolution of the Rivers State Government, which last Wednesday, ordered that all illegal street trading and market overflows should be stopped on or before April 11, 2018.
The commissioner also warned the traders that defaulters would be severely punished.
Responding, spokesperson for the traders thanked the commissioner for the visit and promised to abide by all measures put in place by the Rivers State Government to make the state clean, safe and habitable.
