Chairmanship Hopeful Promises Welfare Package
A chairmanship hopeful in the local government June 16 election in Rivers State, Hon Prince Amabi-hunbe says that elimination of hunger and poverty will be top on his agenda if elected by the people of Degema Local Government Area.
Amabi-hunbe who said this in an interview with newsmen in Port Harcourt recently noted that he would set in motion a machinery for employment generation and women empowerment while bringing good governance to the doorsteps of the rural dwellers. According to him, “I decided to contest the chairmanship of Degema LGA after wide consultation with relevant stakeholders including the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leaders, youths and women groups in the area”.
“An idle mind is the devils workshop, engaging the youths in meaningful activities will go a long way to discouraging them to indulge in cultism, kidnapping, armed robbery and other social vices and also bring development to the rural communities in DELGA”, he said.
The chairmanship hopeful claimed that his age-long benevolence in the area had endeared him to his people hence the clamour for him to run, pointing out that his administration would leave an indelible mark on the sands of time if he is voted into office.
He added that security and infrastructure development would be given top prority while observing that the Neigbourhood Watch Corps set up by Governor Nyesom Wike would form a strong platform for employment as it would engage more than 10,000 youths and thereby reduce restiveness in parts of the state.
