The Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has said that a total of 77,286 passengers were airlifted from Ilorin International Airport between January and December 2017.
The Airport Manager told newsmen in llorin that 2,812 aircraft movements were also recorded in the same period in 2017.
He said that the figures represented an increase over the 2016 figures when 63,441 passengers and 2,812 aircraft movements were recorded at the airport.
AbdulAzeez said the increase in number in 2017 showed that more passengers travelled through the airport than the number in 2016.
Giving a breakdown of the figures, the airport manager said that the months of August and September accounted for highest figures of passenger movements through the airport with 11,039 and 11,049, respectively.
According to him, while an average of 4000 passengers passed through the airport from January to June, the figure increased in July to 6,345 and averaged 7000 till the end of 2017.
On aircraft movement, he said that no fewer than 170 aircraft landed at the airport in a month, while the airport recorded the highest figure of 260 in August 2017.
AbdulAzeez attributed the achievements recorded to the upgrading of facilities at the airport.
He said that more airlines had signified interest to operate from the airport to convey passengers traveling to the northern and eastern parts of the country.
