VC Reconstitutes Certificate Verification C’mittee
Vice Chancellor of the
Rivers State University of Science and Technology (RSUST), Port Harcourt, Prof. Blessing Didia, has reconstituted the Certificate Verification Committee of the institution to address the issue of unverified certificates.
Inaugurating the committee last week, the VC explained that it was necessitated by the need to address a backlog of unverified certificates, which he observed on assumption of office as Acting Vice Chancellor in 2015.
He explained further that given the onerous task of developing the university which is the main focus of the management, the need for a committee to handle certificate verification became imperative.
The VC, therefore called on the committee to “handle task with diligence and sincerity, within the terms of the reference.”
According to him, members of the committee “are expected to verify the O’level certificates of all students admitted by the university and submit periodic reports to the VC and Senate.”
Speaking on behalf of members, Chairman of the committee, Dr. Iyenemi I. Kakulu thanked the VC for reposing confidence in them as exemplified by the appointment.
“We want to assure you that we will take the job seriously, and deliver within the terms of reference,” she said.
Members of the committee, who are sub-Deans of the various faculties are Dr. A. O. Orji, Mr. Macauley Opuwari, and Mr. J. T. Iminabo.
Others are Dr. S.P. Asawo, Mr. E. G. Nkwo, Mrs Tarimabo-Otobo Regina, Barr. Edwyn E. Jonathan, and Mrs Elizabeth Abibo, who is to serve as secretary.
