JCI Donates To Charity
A non-profit making body,
the Junior Chambers International (JCI), Port Harcourt Metropolitan chapter, has donated books, pens, school bags and footwears to the inmates of Jesus Orphanage Home, Elelenwo in Obio/Akpor local government area of Rivers State.
President of the body, Amb. Onyenyechukwu Mbeledogu, who led a team of the association’s members on a charity visit to the home, said the gesture was the effort of JCI in encouraging the academic career of the inmates of the home.
Mbeledogu explained that the visit was part of many philanthropic activities of marking the 100 years of Junior Chambers International being celebrated by its branches across the globe.
“The donation is particularly targeted at the Inmates of the home who are of school age to support them in our own little way in view of the importance of education to children in our society”, she said.
She said, apart from the materials to help their academic pursuit, other items like pampers and clothes equally donated were for the benefit of the younger ones who are not yet of school age.
The Director of Welfare of JCL, Miss Uche Nwamkpa, urged the inmates to continue to be of good behaviour and to always show respect to managers and care givers in the home even as he assured them that with love of God and members of the society, their future remains bright.
The Principal, partner of the home, Evangelist Finegirl Jesus, who was represented by a care-giver in the home, Onyine Jesus, thanked the organisation for remembering them and the donations, noting that the gesture was a show of love and prayed God to bless the organisation for the honour done the home.
