UNIPORT, Best In Oil/Gas Training – VC
The University of Port
Harcourt (UNIPORT) has been identified as a leading institution in oil and gas training in Nigeria and Africa.
Vice Chancellor of UNIPORT, Professor Joseph Ajienka stated this recently at a four-week staff training and development programme organized for the personnel of Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) at the Emerald Energy Institute for Petroleum and Energy, Economics, Policy and Strategics Studies in UNIPORT.
Professor Ajienka, who was represented by Professor Bene Willie-Abbey, said that all programmes run by the institute would grow from strength to strength.
“University of Port Harcourt is truly a unique university. We are the best in Petroleum training in Nigeria and Africa. As you go out, tell people about what you like about your training, but if there is anything you don’t like, whisper them to us so we can improve”, he said.
While assuring that the next batch of training would be better, the vice-chancellor expressed gratitude to the Executive Secretary of NCDMB, Engineer Ernest Nwapa, for approving the university for the training session of his staff.
Also speaking, Director of the institute, Professor Omowuni Iledare noted that no nation can grow on account of natural resources alone. He thus called for proper development and utilization of Nigeria’s abundant natural and human resources.
“Nobody should say that Nigerians do not have capacity to develop this country. Our challenge is under-utilisation of available human and material resources. If we put round pegs in round holes, we would get it right,” he said.
