The Head of Service
Barister Samuel T LongJohn has urged civil servants in the state to improve on the performance of their duties to ensure quality service delivery to the people of the state.
Barrister LongJohn said at the 2015 civil service prayer/dedication service Thursday in Port Harcourt warned that, every civil servant must change his attitude to work this year.
According to him, management would not condone absenteeism, indolence, malingering and other vices which hinder effective service delivery.
He said that management on its part will continue to provide a conducive working environment as well as ensure regular training programmes to keep all workers abreast of modern global trends in service delivery.
LongJohn said that the dedication service was organized to thank God for his goodness and mercies in the out gone year and seek his continuous guidance protection and direction in 2015 for the successful implementation of the policies and programmes of Government .
He said that the service over the years had seen an improved dedication and commitment to duty on the part of civil servants as well as the peaceful industrial relationship between government and organized labour in the state.
The Head of Service said that, this year’s theme which is “Teamwork” was chosen to reflect on the nature of the service.
In his exhortation, the General Superintendent of Glorious Covenant Ministries, Rev Samuel Akinola described teamwork as the submission of contributions to team players.
He said that just as God designed every parts of the human body for different functions, it therefore shows that every department in the civil service is important as neglect of one department will lead to the collapse of the service.
The man of God noted the importance of team work in any organization and charged all to work together for the attainment of desired goal.
