Restates Commitment To Adult Literacy Programme
The lawmaker representing Port Harcourt Federal Constituency II in the National Assembly Hon Bomo Blessing Nsiegbe has restated her commitment to improving the level of literacy in her constituency.
Speaking during the commissioning of an Ultra Modern Adult Education Centre, Hon Nsiegbe said that Adult Education was at the core of her programme even before she was elected to the National Assembly.
She said that the centre would help to improve the quality of education in Rumuwoji community and described it as fulfillment of her electioneering promises to the people.
Meanwhile, Hon Nsiegbe has commended President Goodluck Jonathan for identifying with victims of the recent Mile 1 Market fire disaster .
She said that because of the enormous damages caused by the incident, she moved a motion on the hour of the Federal House of Representatives to draw the attention of the Federal Government to the plight of the victims and expressed gratitude to the president for his prompt response to the plight of the victims.
The Director General of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) Alhaji Mohammed Sani Sidi said that the incident should serve as a wakeup call for people to always comply with fire safety.
Alhaji Sidi said that the gesture by the President is to alleviate the sufferings of victims of the disaster.
The programme featured the presentation of over N250 million to the victims of the fire disaster by the National Chairman of the People Democratic Party (PDP), Adamu Muuzu Onbehalf of the president.
