Commissioner Wins Outstanding Award
The Rivers State Commissioner for Education, Dame Alice Lawrence Nemi has won the Most Outstanding Commissioner Award in Rivers State.
The award was presented to her at the First Leadership and Business Merit Award organised by the Independent Monitor Newspapers in conjunction with the Evans Osi Foundation in Port Harcourt.
Dame Alice Lawrence – Nemi was named the most outstanding commissioner based on her outstanding contributions in the education sector of the State.
The commissioner since her appointment has worked with an uncommon sense of purpose and direction that has made Rivers State possibly the only state that has carried out massive re-organisation in the education sector.
The commissioner while receiving the award promised to continue to render educational services to Rivers people in particular and the nation in general.
The commissioner represented by the Director, Higher Education, Rivers State Ministry of Education, Mrs Mae Solomon also thanked the Independent Monitor newspaper for its contributions to the development of Rivers State.

Education Commissioner Seeks media collaboration in Rivers
The River State Commissioner for Education, Dr Peters Nwagor has called on media practitioners in Rivers State to deploy their various communication platforms toward promoting government programmes and policies aimed at achieving sustainable development in the education sector. Dr. Nwagor made the appeal when members of the Etche Ethnic Practicing Journalists (EEPJ) paid him a courtesy visit in Office in Port Harcourt. The Commissioner emphasized the strategic role of the media in shaping public perception, promoting government initiatives, and supporting policies capable of improving the quality of education and human capital development in the state. According to him, constructive media engagement remains essential in creating public awareness on educational reforms, students’ welfare, infrastructural improvements, and other interventions being implemented by the state government.
