FRSC Dismisses Over 100 In Rivers
The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), Rivers State command, has dismissed over 100 corps members over misconduct and sharp practices.
The Corps Marshal of FRSC, Mr. Osita Chidoka, who disclosed this while addressing a cross section of officers and men of the zonal command in Port Harcourt, the zonal headquarters last Wednesday after inspecting a parade said no act of indiscipline, would be condoled and charged the officers to exhibit high level of transparency to project the image of the organisation.
Mr. Chidoka said all hands must be on deck to enhance the corporate existence of the corps, enjoining them to work hard, assuring that issues about their salaries have been resolved and that they would be paid as at when due.
“The era of non-payment of salaries are over, but let me remind you that to whom much is given much is expected,” he said, and charged them to intensify their patrol for visibility and be transparent as FRSC is a credible organisation.
The corps marshal noted that the organisation was saddled with the responsibility of safety on our roads and that anyone found wanting would have himself or herself to blame.
He charged the officers to project FRSC and its policy and programmes high by improving on the services, educationally and morally as the corps would follow due process in their promotions as well.
He said, discipline is the building block of the corps and enjoined them to obey orders and shun corrupt practices, as well as rumour mongering, lateness to duty and loitering. He urged them to respect and co-operate with the authorities, do not involve in sabotage, maintain government properties entrusted in you care, respond quickly to distress calls, a good name in FRSC would take them to higher places.
The corps marshal, who spoke through the Deputy Corps Marshal in charge of motor vehicle administration also charge the corps members to work for the corporate existence of the organisation and know issues on ground and articulate them by being part and parcel of the body urging them to avoid unguided utterance and cutting corners. He urged them to always do the right thing with clear conscience, live within their means, have confidence and redouble their efforts towards saving lives.
“Let us face realities and rally round the management to make FRSC a better organisation”, he advised and stressed that they should encourage inter-service relationship and co-operate with each other for the organisation to grow from strength to strength in the interest of the nation.
