Group Rallies Support For Bayelsa Guber Aspirant
As preparation for the February 2012 governorship election in Bayelsa State hots up, a socio-political organisation Niger Delta Democratic Coalition (NDDC) has mounted its strong support for Hon. Henry Seriake Dickson who is presently contending to take over Creek Heaven as the new governor.
A statement signed by the National Coordinator of NDDC, Mrs Blessing Adah and National Secretary Comrade Robert Akpos said that Hon. Dickson possesses the intellectual ability and vast experience in leadership to make a turn around in Bayelsa State.
The state further appealed to the people of Bayelsa State and particularly the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at state and national levels to consider Bayelsa West Senatorial District for the forthcoming gubernatorial election.
According to group, the Bayelsa West Senatorial District is the only district that has not produced a governor since the creation of the state”.
“Between 1999-2005 Bayelsa Central produced the state governor in the person of Chief Diepreye Alamieyeseigha. Between 2005-2011 Bayelsa East Senatorial District produced the governors in the persons of Dr Goodluck Jonathan and GovernorTimipre Sylva leaving out Bayelsa West as the only Senatorial District that has not produced a governor in the state”, it said.
The group further appealed to the good people of Bayelsa and the leadership of PDP to be fair to the neglected district in the forthcoming guber election stressing that it was on the same ground of total neglect that south-south was allowed to produce its first president in the person of Dr Jonathan
The group maintained that West Senatorial District has qualified persons in terms of experience and intellectual ability to reposition the state describing Hon Dickson who is currently a member of the House of Representatives as one man that can give the state enviable leadership.

APC Unveils New NWC At National Convention
Delegates at the convention, held at the Eagle Square, also produced a new national working committee (NWC) through a consensus arrangement endorsed by stakeholders.
Dr Ben Nwoye was named deputy national chairman (south), replacing Mr Emma Eneukwu, following consultations within the party.
Sources within the party said the decision was influenced by zoning considerations and consultations among party leaders, with Mr Peter Mbah, Enugu State governor, playing a significant role in ensuring Dr Nwoye’s inclusion.
In his acceptance speech, Prof. Yilwatda said his re-election was a call to greater service and pledged commitment to unity within the ruling party.
“We are ready to serve, ready to lead, and we are ready to build the party, together with the nation,” he said.
He added that the new leadership would not “fail or falter” in carrying out its responsibilities.
President Bola Tinubu, Vice-President Kashim Shettima, governors, members of the national assembly, and other party leaders graced the convention.
