SEEFOR Warns Against Abandonment Of World Bank Projects
The State Employment And Expenditure For Results (SEEFOR) project has said that it will not tolerate the abandonment of any World Bank/European Union sponsored projects in the state.
The Project Director, Community Driven Development Social-Project Implementation (CDDS-PIU), Ministry of Chieftaincy/Community Affairs, Sir ThankGod Amaewhule who said this during the flagging off of two micro projects in Omuwhondah Elele in Ikwerre Local Government Area said that SEEFOR has never experienced any abandoned project in the state.
Sir Amaewhule who represented both the Commissioner for Chieftaincy/Community Affairs, Barrister Silvanus Nwankwo and that of Budget/Economic Planning, Isaac Kamalu warned Omuwhondah community not to be the first community to abandon the town hall and mini market projects approved for them.
He said that the World Bank/EU projects were meant for people who live in the remotest and poorest of the poor communities in the state and stressed the need for them to put in effort to ensure their timely completion.
“It is believed that the micro projects we are launching today will definitely alleviate the sufferings of the rural dwellers in these remotest and poorest communities in the state when completed.
“It is therefore expected that your community will put in efforts to ensure that the projects are completed on time in order to achieve the desired benefits”, he said. Also speaking, the community head, Elder Boniface Onuoma thanked SEEFOR for considering the community worthy for the projects. Elder Onuoma promised that the projects will be completed on time.
Highpoint of the occasion was the presentation of a cheque of N1,755,000.00 being first tranch payment for the town hall project to the community.
