Mrs Wike Receives Dev Award
The wife of the Rivers
State Governor, Her Excellency, Justice Suzette Wike, has been conferred with ‘Sustainable Development Ambassador 2016″ Award.
The Executive Director, Rivers State Sustainable Development Agency (RSSDA), Lawrence Pepple, presented the award to her at a leadership programme, tagged “LEAD Summit”, held in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.
Pepple said the gesture was in recognition of her unflinching support and passion for youth sustainable development in the state.
He explained that the awardee had shown strong interest and support to enterpreneural initiatives of the agency and urged her not to relent.
The RSSDA boss, explained that the summit was in partnership with Second Opportunity Africa Foundation and Heritage Bank Limited, stating that the bank provided funding while the foundation initiated the idea.
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Foundation, Linda Somiari-Stewart, in her presentation, stated that the foundation aims at providing needed support for youth to acquire entrepreneurial skills that would support them live meaningful lives without having to depend on others or roaming the streets in search of white colar jobs.
Somiari-Stewart who is a former lawmaker in the state noted with joy that through the foundation a good number of beneficiaries now run their own businesses and are also employers of labour.
She expressed satisfaction with the high turnout at the event and called on other corporate organisations and individuals to increase interest in skills acquisition for youth.
She said about 250 persons participated in the summit which was anchored on leadership, entrepreneurship and development.
