RSUST To Partner Counselling Association
The Rivers State
University of Science and Technology (RSUST) is set to partner with the state branch of Counselling Association of Nigeria in order to offer counselling services in the institution.
Acting Vice Chancellor of the university, Professor Blessing Didia stated this while receiving a delegation of the association in his office, recently.
Professor Didia, who described counselling as an indispensable tool for moulding students in their chosen career, noted that “it is necessary in guiding students in character and learning”.
While stating the readiness of the university to go into partnership with the association, Professor Didia urged them to base their activities purely on academics.
Earlier, chairman of the association, Mrs Chinyere Joy, congratulated the Acting Vice Chancellor on his appointment and expressed satisfaction over his “open door policy”, which she said, manifested in the reception he accorded them.
She applauded Prof. Didia’s track record of performance and described the Acting Vice Chancellor as “a responsible and understanding leader whose administrative acumen is extremely endearing”.
She used the opportunity to emphasise the need to properly engage students, particularly those in year one, in counselling in order to curtail various vices in the university.
The chairman urged the university to partner with the association in order to provide essential counselling services to the institution.
