Youth Warned Against Violence
The Director of Finance and Administration (DFA), Rivers State Local Government Service Commission, Mene Peter Alobari Neegbo has cautioned youth groups and other organisations across the state against pushing their members into violence and other forms of anti-social behaviour.
Speaking with newsmen in Port Harcourt shortly after receiving a United Nations World Peace Ambassadors Award, Mene Peter Alobari Neegbo who is the traditional ruler-elect of Bua Yaayor of Babbe in the Khana Local Government Area said that “there is no alternative to peace as far as human society is concerned”.
He also urged elders of communities across the state to preach the message to their youths as well as discourage their people from engaging in illegal activities that would bring disrepute to their individual families and communities.
The Director of Finance and Administration in Local Government Service Commission also stressed the need for more emphasis on education by communities in the State.
He pledged to sustain his campaign for peace and mass literacy in Ogoni and other parts of the State and urged other well meaning individuals to do so in their areas.
Mene Neegbo also commended the United Nations for the recognition and pledged not to disappoint the body.
Earlier, the President, International Association of World Peace Advocates, Professor LongJohn Smithman said that the organisation was set up by the United Nations (UN) to advocate for peace across the world.
Prof. Smithman who was represented by Mr Emmanuel Nkweke said “the group is achieving its mission through the efforts of personalities who symbolise peace in their different communities”.
He said that HRH Mene Peter Atobari Neegbo had done so much towards the sustenance of peace in his immediate Betem Community, the Babbe Kingdom and the entire Ogoni.
Mr Nkweke urged others to emulate him by ensuring peace in their communities.
