The Prelate and moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Nigeria, Prof. E.M. Uka, has tasked the government to put in place measures that will check the activities of terrorists in the country.
Prof. Uka who said this in an interview with The Tide shortly after the retirement thanksgiving service of Rev. Cheetam DA West.
Cheetam DA West, the First Rivers State Indigenous Presbyterian Minister a Sunday in Port Harcourt also stressed the need for Christians to adopt the altitude of self defence in the event of an attack.
Earlier in his sermon during the thanksgiving service, the Prelate described thanksgiving as a very fundamental aspect of Christianity.
He said that, it was the yardstick by which God measures his relationship with men, contending that God deserved to be recognised and praised at all times.
He said that God had used Rev. Cheetam DA Cheetam –West to accomplish so much for the Presbyterian Church and humanity.
“The activities of Rev. Cheetam DA West are highly commendable. He has fulfilled his divine calling”, he said.
Prof. Uka however urged the retiring priest to keep up the good fight he had started, stressing that he must use his quiet time to further spread the gospel of Christ.
In an interview with The Tide, the retiring Priest, Rev. Cheetam DA Cheetam-West said that his ambition was not to become a priest, but a nuclear physicist, but God called him to be a priest. Rev. Cheetam West said that, he felt fulfilled serving in the vineyard of the Lord.
The clergyman also advised the youths to be peaceful, while becoming obedient to constituted authorities.
