Church Takes AASP Services To Host Communities In Rivers
As part of its All African Service Project (AASP), Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, has rendered different humanitarian services in their Church’s stakes and districts in Rivers and some other South South States in Nigeria.
The humanitarian services are an annual event usually carried out to assist the host communities at different locations of the church in August every year in Africa.
Consequently, the church simultaneously carried different selfless services in all Stakes that include Rivers, Akwa Ibom, and Bayelsa States.
In Port Harcourt South Stake, they partnered with Sodieari Boyles to clean New Market, UPE, Federal Housing Estate and its environs in Borikiri axis of Port Harcourt.
At Port Harcourt Stake, they further partner, with Federal Road Safety Corps, Rivers State Sector Command to sensitise drivers at Abali Park, Garrison Area and other road users on road safety techniques.
While at Port Harcourt North Stake, there was general sanitation as they cleared grasses and cleaned gutters at Community Secondary School, Okoro-Nu-Odo.In Port Harcourt West, there was also a general cleaning at State Primary School, Olanada, Rumuola.
In Port Harcourt East, members were engaged in tree planting at Community Primary School, Obeama and Iriebe Housing Estate. The occasion saw Area 70 and Priesthood Chairman for Port Harcourt Coordinating Council of the Church, Enefiok Ntem actively participation in the planting of some fruit trees in conjunction with the local leaders at School to Land in Oyigbo.
Port Harcourt Central Stake, there was also cleaning of Rumuomasi Market, where the members cleared grasses and drainages, as Port Harcourt Choba Stake members also did the same at Ogbogoro and its environs.
In Okrika District, the church took its sanitation exercise by cleaning Cara Market. Also in Bayelsa State, members cleaned Old Akenfa Market, while others participated in blood donation at Diete Kiki Memorial Hospital.
The Tide gathered that in Akwa Ibom Stake particularly Ikot Akpatek, members also cleaned gutters and drainages of Ikot Annang/ Ikot Akpatek internal roads.
Ikot Akpaden Stake members carried out their All African Service Project (AASP) in various places. These included Afaha Inang Health Centre, Asong Cottage Hospital, General Hospital, Awa Iman, Akwa Ibom State University Campus, Ikot Akpaden -Mkpat Enin Local Government Council Secretariat.
According to Area 70 and Priesthood Chairman for Port Harcourt Coordinating Council, Elder Ntem, act of service can heal the world, saying that he was impressed when he saw members coming out in spite the rains to render selfless services to humanity.
“I was very impressed when I saw members holding umbrellas in the rains to clear schools, markets, drainages, donating blood and planting trees to preserve our world.
” I pray this legacy should be sustained and more should be desirous to render humanitarian services to mankind that will make the world a better place for the living , as shown by our Lord Jesus Christ,’’ he said.
He used the forum to thank all those who partnered with the Church to achieve the success.

Rivers High Court Restrain Trustees, Knights of St. John International, Others From Conducting Election
The High Court sitting in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, has restrained the registered trustees of Knights of St John International, Supreme Subordinate Commandery, Nigeria, and four others from conducting elections into Our Lady of Holy Rosary Local Commandery No 920 CIWA, Port Harcourt, District 48 Commandery elections, and Supreme Subordinate elections of the Knights of St John International, Nigeria, pending the determination of the substantive matters before them.
Justice G.C. Aguma and Justice V.C. Ugoji, in their separate interim orders of injunction issued in Suit No: PHC/4410/CS/2025 and Suit No: PHC/4359/CS/2025, respectively, restrained the defendants, whether by themselves, their privies, agents, servants, or any person or group of persons working under them, from conducting elections into Our Lady of Holy Rosary Local Commandery No 920, CIWA Port Harcourt, District 48 Commandery, Port Harcourt Commandery, and Supreme Subordinate of Knights of St John International, Nigeria.
The claimants, Sir Njoku Chukwuemeka Andrew and Sir Chukwuemeka Martin Mba, in separate suits, through their legal representatives, dragged the defendants to court, seeking an order to restrain them from appointing or installing any interim caretaker executive or leadership to run or pilot the affairs of St John International, Our Lady of Holy Rosary Local Commandery No 920, CIWA, Port Harcourt.
The defendants in the matter are: Registered Trustees of Knights of St John International, Supreme Subordinate Commandery, Nigeria; Brig. Gen. Emmanuel Ufuoma Okene, the Grand President, Port Harcourt Grand Commandery, Knights of St John International; Noble Brother Viktor Benebo, the Chairman Investigation Committee set up by the 2nd Defendant to investigate the claimants; Sir Architect Prempeh Ebiware, the District 48 Commander, Knights of St John International, Port Harcourt; and Sir Harry Oruma, member of Knights of St John International, Our Lady of Holy Commandery No 920, CIWA, Port Harcourt.
The two judges, after listening to the counsels in the matter, granted the claimants’ request and adjourned the matter to 10/12/2025 and 16/12/2025, respectively, for hearing of the motion on notice.
