RSUTH CMD Hails Fubara For Support, Facility Upgrade …Assures World-Class Services Soon

The Acting Chief Medical Director of the Rivers State University Teaching Hospital (RSUTH), Prof. Chizindu Alikor, has commended the Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, for supporting a week-long intensive training of some critical staff of the hospital by a medical team from Stanford Royal Hospital, Manchester, United Kingdom.
The training was put together to strengthen the capacity of the hospital in delivering quality medical services to Rivers people.
The CMD expressed gratitude to Fubara for approving the training, and other levels of sustained support that have continued to position the hospital to be among top ranking tertiary healthcare facilities in the country.
Prof. Alikor’s remark is sequel to the unscheduled visit undertaken by the governor on Sunday evening to inspect some installed equipment that were recently acquired for the hospital.
Conducting some newsmen round the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Special Care Baby Unit (SBCU), Radiography, Renal Centre and the Modular Theatre and other units in the hospital on Monday, Prof. Alikor explained that the installed medical infrastructure in those units are top-notch, which has enhanced services delivery and make the hospital the best in the country.
Prof. Alikor said that the Modular Theatre was being equipped for inauguration at the end of October 2023, explaining that RSUTH has over 400 beds, ensures a 24 hour supply of power, has oxygen plant with piped oxygen to critical units, has ventilators, MRI and CT scan equipment.
The Consultant Paediatrician in-charge of the Special Care Baby Unit, Dr. Adaku Avor, said the unit has the capacity to attend to issues of jaundice in babies and provides respiratory support including those that require the use of incubators.
On her part, the Senior Registrar in-charge of the Renal Centre, Dr. Awajiumo Amadi, said the centre is the best in the country because it has recent equipment installed to cater for kidney diseases, perform kidney transplant, stone removal, and offer dialysis services.
Also speaking, the Head of Radiology Department, Dr. Rufus Abam, explained that with the consistent support from the government, the installed modern equipment enables the department to attend to the growing number of referral cases from the entire South-South and South-East regions of Nigeria because it is reckoned as the best .
In her comment, Team Leader of the Intensive Care Unit, Dr. Chizor Obadeh, said with requisite support from Governor Fubara, the long shut-down unit was renovated and revived to provide critical intensive care support to patients, keeping them alive and help them to recover fully.
Also speaking, the Head of Nurses who was formerly in-charge of the Modular Centre, Mrs Rose Obele Orluwa, said the capacity of the centre has been further strengthened with provision of more equipment including first class four operating beds amongst others to deliver efficient medical services.

The Head of Service (HoS) of Rivers State, Dr. Mrs. Inyingi S. I. Brown, has commended Governor Sir Siminalayi Fubara, GSSRS, for approving befitting accommodation for Permanent Secretaries in the state.

According to the Head of Service, Governor Fubara has continued to demonstrate uncommon commitment to the welfare of civil servants in Rivers State, stressing that such gestures underscore his people-oriented leadership style. A breakdown of the initiative shows that 319 forms will be distributed across the 319 political wards in Rivers State, while five forms are allocated to non-indigenes and five forms to persons living with disabilities.
