TCN’s T104 Tower Collapses, PHEDC Confirms
The Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company (PHEDC) has raised alarm over the collapse of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) tower which has thrown the entire Cross River State into total darkness.
A statement signed by the PHED’s management, last Monday, attributed the collapse to act of vandalism.
The statement reads: “The Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution (PHED) Plc wishes to inform our esteemed customers in Cross River State that due to the attack by vandals on a TCN 330KV transmission line at the T104 Tower, Odukpani/Ikot Ekpene, at Oku Iboku in Itu Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State has collapsed.
“The action of the vandals has affected the flow of power from the national grid to the Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Plc network thereby disrupting power supply to our customers in Cross Rivers State. We hereby apologise to our customers who are cut off from power supply for the inconveniences.
“We are monitoring developments with the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) and we hope that power supply will be restored to the affected areas soon”, the statement added.
