Foundation Urges NGOs To Assist Less Privileged
President of a Non-Governmental Organisation, Okonu Foundation, Chief Gift Okonu, has advised NGOs to assist the less privileged people, particularly widows in the country.
He stated that giving to the less privileged would attract more blessings from God, saying, that was one of the reasons he established the foundation to assist widows and vulnerable people to have more blessings.
Okonu said this while fielding questions from newsmen shortly after the burial ceremony of his late mother, Mrs Ngozi Okonu, at Okporowo Ogbakiri in Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State, recently.
The businessman pledged to sustain what he has started in terms of helping the less privileged in the society, saying that what actually ignited his passion of establishing the NGO was the neglect of widows in the society and to fulfill his late mother’s dream.
According to him, it was the wish of his late mother for him to establish an NGO to take care of widows and the vulnerable people.
“It behoves on every human being to assist the less privileged, because that will help to curb youth restiveness and develop the society. It is the wish of my late mother for me to take care and show genuine love to widows, the less privileged and vulnerable people in the society, which I promised to sustain through the establishment of Okonu Foundation. As I speak, Okonu Foundation alone has been able to provide job opportunities to the teeming youths in the community”, he said.
He used the forum to call on well meaning individuals and corporate organisations to assist the less privileged.
