Traditional Rulers Council Chairman Urges Peace
The new Chairman of Andoni Area Traditional Rulers Council, King Job William Okuruket-Nnabiget (XIV) has pledged to unite all communities in Andoni.
King Okuruket who is the Okan-Ama of Ngo of Ngo land said this in an interview with newsmen shortly after taking over the leadership of the traditional council.
The monarch said the focus of the council under his leadership is to ensure peace and unity in all communities in Andoni.
He also called for the supports of all stakeholders to succeed.
Earlier, the out gone chairman of the council, King Aaron M. Ikuru said the handover ceremony was for the interest of peace and development of Andoni .
Ikuru who is also the Okan-Ama of Ikuru town said his removal by the outgone chairman of Andoni Local Government Council , Hon Paul L. Paul was seen in some quarters as going against the provision of the Rivers State Traditional Rulers Law No 4 of 2015.
“there was Thus need to put things in their proper perspective”.
King Ikuru said following a crucial meeting, which held after, it was resolved that the tenure of any executive of the council shall be two years and shall be eligible for re-appointment for a second two year term.
“that the position of chairman shall rotate among first class Traditional Rulers in the area.
“that in the absence of any first class traditional ruler, in the area, a second class traditional ruler shall be appointed to hold the office of chairman until first class traditional ruler is appointed”
A communiqué made available to newsmen at the end of the ceremony listed names of the new executive of Andoni Area Traditional Rulers Council as, King J.W. Okuruket-Nnabiget XIV Chairman, King Aaron .M. Ikuru-Ikwut Vii , Vice Chairman and King B.M.H. Egwenre-Oruk XVII as General Secretary.
The rest are: King I.U. Otuo IX as Treasurer, S.M. Ikwut, as Organising Secretary and Nteogwuijah, as PRO.
