Monarchs Counsel Youths Against Criminality

Traditional rulers from the Andoni Local Government Area have condemned the ravaging acts of criminality, wanton killings and unwarranted kidnappings by some faceless youths in the area.
The Chairman of Andoni Local Government Area Traditional Rulers’ Council and Okan’ama Ikuru, King Aaron Ikuru, who read the decision of the monarchs while briefing newsmen in Port Harcourt, said the traditional institution in Andoni has not been complacent over the criminal activities in the area.
The monarch, who also described peace as a panacea to sustainable development, said the council has concluded plans to expand the peace committee headed by King M. O. Isotu to include prominent sons and daughters of the local government area with the hope of consolidating peace in the area.
“We members of Andoni Local Government Area Traditional Rulers’ Council stand up to condemn unequivocally, these dastardly acts of criminality, wanton killings, kidnappings and demand for ransom perpetrated by the youths both in Diaspora as well as residents in Andoni territory.
“By this medium, the council wishes to inform the general public that conscious efforts are being made to bring peace to Andoni”.
Ikuru commended the state Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, and security agents for their untiring efforts in ensuring his release and that of the lecturer with the University of Port Harcourt, Dr. James Ayuwo.
He, however, appealed to the youths of Obolo ethnic group to desist from acts detrimental to the peaceful effort of the state government but always adopt dialogue in settling all grievances for the progress of the area.
“We, therefore, seize this opportunity to thank God for the safe deliverance of his majesty and others from the kidnappers. By this medium, we are also thanking the Governor of Rivers State, Chief Nyesom Wike, for his untiring effort to the release of King Aaron Ikuru and Dr. James Ayuwo from the den of kidnappers.
“Our appreciation also goes to the security agencies, namely the police, DSS, Navy, the Army and all others who dutifully pressurized the abductors for the early release of the university lecturer and myself”.
It would be recalled that the monarch was kidnapped on February 21, 2021, by unknown gunmen at his residence in Ikuru Town in Andoni Local Government Area, and released on March 27, 2021.
