Indorama Wins “Business Day Agribusiness Company Of The Year 2020 Award
Lagos Continental Hotel, Victoria Island Lagos was filled to capacity with corporate icons, on Saturday evening, December 12, 2020, as BusinessDay Newspaper organized its high profile Nigeria Business Leadership Awards, in which Indorama Fertilizer & Chemicals Limited (IEFCL) was voted the “Agribusiness Company of the Year”.
A statement signed by the Group Head, Corporate Communications, Indorama Nigeria Group, Dr Jossy Nkwocha, disclosed this to newsmen, in Port Harcourt, last Monday.
Publisher of Business Day Newspaper, Mr. Frank Aigbogun noted that IEFCL was nominated and won because of the following major reasons namely: “First, the company’s track record as one of the largest fertilizer producing company in Nigeria, employing regenerative processes to guarantee compliance with the global best practices for environment, health, and safety standards.
“Second, Indorama Eleme Fertilizer & Chemicals Limited’s values for maintaining integrity and the highest professional standards at a time when stakeholders and regulators are holding boards accountable to stringent governance expectations.
“Finally, Indorama Eleme Fertilizer & Chemicals Limited’s sustained commitment to national agricultural transformation, which guarantees food security in Nigeria through supply of Urea fertilizer to over 20 million farmers across the country”.
Also, in appraising the role of the management in upward growth curve of the company notwithstanding challenging climate of operation, the newspaper acknowledged “the impressive growth trajectory of Indorama Eleme Fertilizer & Chemicals Limited (IEFCL) under your stewardship, despite a very tough operating environment”.
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of IEFCL Mr. Munish Jindal and the Managing Director of Indorama-Nigeria, Mr. Manish Mundra, were represented at the event by Mr. Rafiu Afeez of the Lagos office, who received the award plaque and expressed appreciation to Business Day Newspaper for the recognition and award.
Some friends of IEFCL were at the event to share the joy of the moment.
They include Mr. Jesuseun Fatoyinbo, Head, International Trade at Stanbic IBTC Bank; Mr. Ikechukwu Onwukwe, Relationship Manager at Standard Chartered Bank; Mr. Oluwatosin Olatunji, Relationship Manager at Rand Merchant Bank; and Mr Reuben Dalhatu-Gora of Access Bank.
It was indeed a happy event for IEFCL that its contributions to national development, especially agricultural revolution in Nigeria, were being recognised by a respected Business publication in Nigeria.
According to the organisers, the Business Leadership Awards is designed to: Recognise achievements; Celebrate business leaders who through their enterprises boost the Nigerian economy and help rewrite perceptions of Nigeria; inspire the next generation of leaders, and finally to showcase companies that are innovative, people-friendly and have adopted world-class business processes.
The Business Day Leadership awards have run annually since 2016 and have garnered significant reputation over the years.
Notable professionals and organisations have received awards in their different industry categories.

RSG INAUGURATES ARMED FORCES REMEMBRANCE DAY COMMITTEE
The Rivers State Government has inaugurated a Central Planning Committee to organize the celebration of the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day (AFRD) in the State.
The committee was formally inaugurated by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Benibo Anabraba in Port Harcourt, last Thursday.
Dr Anabraba who also serves as Chairman of the Committee
highlighted the State Government’s deep appreciation for the sacrifices of Nigeria’s fallen heroes who laid down their lives for the nation’s peace and unity.
“These heroes have given their lives for the security and peace of our nation and deserve to be celebrated. The Armed Forces Remembrance Day is an opportunity to show our gratitude for their sacrifice,” he said.
Dr. Anabraba further extended recognition to all Security Agencies in the State, emphasizing the importance of the event in appreciating their contributions to national security and sovereignty.
The annual Armed Forces Remembrance Day, observed on January 15 across the country is dedicated to remember Nigeria’s departed soldiers and honouring the nation’s veterans.
