RSU VC Tours Facilities On Campus Promises To Give Fish Farm Top Priority

The newly appointed Vice Chancellor of Rivers State University, Professor Nlerum Okogbule, yesterday embarked on a tour of all the faculties in the university to ascertain the level of preparedness and infrastructural decay in the university. He was accompanied by the former Acting Vice Chancellor, Professor Opuenebo Owei, the Registrar, Dr. Sydney Enyindah and other big wigs of the university.
Professor Okogbule started his tour at the Faculty of Agriculture and was received by academic and non-academic staff in the faculty.
The Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, Professor Nkalo Hudson Ukoima stated that the faculty needs urgent attention in infrastructure, unemployment, and fish farm, among others.
He, therefore, asked the school authorities to come to the aid of the faculty, noting that some of the infrastructure will collapse if urgent attention is not given.
He explained that RSU which hitherto was known for technology is on the state of comatose, as ants and rodents have besieged some of the infrastructures.
The Vice Chancellor in his reaction thanked the entire staff of the university, and promised to give fish farm top priority.
Professor Okogbule stated that why he is willing to prioritise the fish farm is because, “the countries that are doing well all over the world today are through Agriculture and farming, therefore, in prioritising this fish farm, it will in turn boost productivity and massive employment in the future.”
The university boss promised to visit all the faculties in the university to ascertain the level of development.
He said that in visiting the faculties, he would be able to see things for himself, the faculty that is doing well and those struggling will be given attention.
Professor Okogbule promised to revive the entire institution, adding that this can only be achieved through cooperation, unity and togetherness as he is part and parcel of the university.
“I have not worked elsewhere except in this university, therefore, I have passion in this university,” he said.
