Safety Engineer Assures On Partnership With Govt
The National Chairman of the Nigerian Institution of Safety Engineers,Engr. Adeyemi B.Oyedepo, says the body is ready to partner with government to give necessary advice, guidance and help to statutory bodies to enact safety regulations and standards with a view to educating the public on the need for adherence to safety regulations.
“Engr Oyedepo stated this recently during the association’s 2-day conference/AGM titled: Advancing Modern Safety Engineering Applications For Industrial And Public Safety In Nigeria,” in Port Harcourt.
He also commended the NDDC and the Akwa Ibom State Government for tackling flood by desilting waterways,saying that the body offered professional recommendations on how anti-bunkering activities was handled without causing pollution to the environment during the exercise.
Oyedepo further stated that the body has also witnessed expansion of its activities, adding that three state chapters:Lagos,Rivers and Delta have been created.’The year 2019 has witnessed an acceleration and expansion of our activities which has led to the creation of an additional three state chapters being Lagos, Rivers and Delta with more to come’,he said.
In another vein,The Engineers also elected new officials that would pilot its affairs from January, 2020.
Engr.Azuka B.Emeasoba was elected as the new National Chairman,while all the previous officers were returned unopposed with exception of the Assist.Technical Secretary and the Assist.Gen.Secretary whose elections were stood down because they were absent at the time of the elections.
The NIsafetyE also conferred fellowship on three categories: twenty eight persons were inducted as new members, while twenty persons were inducted as Associate Members and another seven persons were further inducted as students members.
