Hold Leaders Accountable, NGO Urges Electorate
The Executive Director, Trust Africa, a non- governmental organisation, based in Nigeria, Mr Lawrence Dube, has said the basic thrust of the organisation is to create the desired awareness for people to understand the legislative power of legislators.
Dube stated this, over the weekend during a one-day stakeholders dialogue on fostering legislative accountability and inclusive legislation in Ogoni land, held at Suanu Finima Peace Centre in Bori, Khana Local Government Area of Rivers State.
According to him, citizens are to hold their elected representatives accountable in other to make them provide and deliver good governance to the people.
He disclosed that the organisation would achieve the process through peaceful means and dialogue , adding that there was the need for citizens to come together to build a partnership that would promote good governance in the area.
“They should be accountable because they were elected by the people. “If there is so much corruption there will be no investment for the people”, Dube said.
According to him, Trust Africa will have a two-day training programme to enlighten the people on constituency dialogue.
