Association Urges End To MOSOP Leadership Tussle
The Ogoni Welders and Fitters Indigenous Association has advised the warring factions in the Movement for the Survival of Ogoni People (MOSOP) to sheathe their swords in the interest of peace and development of the Ogoni Nation.
Chairman of the association, Comrade Daniel Obekwa, who stated this in an interview with newsmen in Bori said that peace was needed for Ogoni to develop.
According to him, it is high time the MOSOP leadership settled their differences in order not to cause disaffection among the people of the area, stressing that by so doing the Ogoni Vision would be realised.
He blamed the poor turnout at the just concluded 2019 Ogoni day celebration on the leadership crisis rocking MOSOP, stressing that all interests must be submerged in order to ensure an amicable resolution of the problem.
Mr. Obekwa also said that Ogoni Welders and Fitters Indigenous Association was formed to seek recognition from the various companies operating in Ogoniland.
According to him, the association is made up of professionals who have the competencies to provide quality service to the various companies operating in Ogoniland.
Also speaking, Secretary General of the association, Comrade Benjamin Nyor, stated that the local content policy of the Federal Government should be adhered to by the companies operating in Ogoni land.
He noted that the association will not relent in its fight for the implementation of the local content policy by companies operating in Ogoni land.
