PH Residents Laud Wike Over Free Buses
Residents of Rivers State have commended the State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike for providing free buses in this festive period to convey people within and outside Port Harcourt, the state capital.
The Tide gathered that the action was geared towards ameliorating the suffering of the masses in relation to shortage of vehicles associated to the season, with its attendant fare hike.
The Luxurious buses that hit the road last weekend plied various routes like Mile One – Rumuokoro, Eleme, Tai, Bori route among others.
One of the bus drivers, who spoke to The Tide on condition of anonymity, said that the buses were provided by the Rivers State Government, courtesy of the Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike to convey safely interested citizens of the state who may wish to board any of the buses en-route his or her destination.
He said that they were warned not to collect a dime from any passenger that may board the buses, stressing that the exercise was entirely free.
The driver further maintained that the response of the masses to the gesture was encouraging and appreciative, noting that this is a testament to show that the Governor is man of the people.
One of the beneficiaries of the free transport en-route Bori, headquarters of Khana Local Government Area, Mr Barika Lebari, who spoke to our correspondent, expressed his appreciation to the Governor for the magnanimity and consideration to hash economic condition affecting the common man and provided free buses to our people.
He commended Governor Wike’s developmental initiatives, saying that his project implementation speaks volume and would always sail him back to the Brick House, no matter the rough weather.
