NUJ Condoles Wife Of Late Former RSNC GM
The executive officers of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Rivers State Council have described the death of the former general manager of Rivers State Newspaper Corporation, late Mr Augustine Nwikinaka, as a great loss to the Pen Profession in the state in particular and the country at large.
Speaking during a condolence visit to his wife, Mrs Ezinne Nwikinaka, at their residence in Federal Housing Estate, Rumueme, the Rivers State Chairman, NUJ, Stanley Job Stanley, yesterday, said that late Nwikinaka was an outstanding, committed, and dedicated chairman of NUJ as well as chief press secretary to two former governors,Sam Ewang and Dr Peter Odili.
The NUJ boss stressed that as a former NUJ chairman, Nwikinaka made several landmark achievements, adding that his efforts made Rivers State University (RSU) to introduce Mass Communication Department.
Stanley emphasised that late Nwikinaka mentored and groomed many journalists in the state as well as coached them to become useful citizens.
He used himself as an example of those Nwikinaka impacted their lives positively, describing him as a sincere man with a large heart to help everyone that came his way, adding that Rivers State and the country have lost a patriotic and committed media practitioner.
The NUJ chairman appealed to the wife of late Augustine Nwikinaka to update the union on the agreed burial date to enable the union write to the state government seeking for financial support on behalf of the family in order to give the renowned journalist a befitting burial.
