Church Renders Humanitarian Services To Host Communities
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints has rendered different humanitarian services in the church’s five stakes and the Okrika District in Rivers State.
The humanitarian services are an annual event usually carried out to assist the host communities at different locations of the church in August every year in West Africa.
The Tide gathered that the church undertook free medical outreach for the people living at Bie-Ama and Borikiri in the South Stake, and conducted general clean-up in Government Girls Secondary School, Rumokwuta, in the North Stake, as well as carried out general sanitation in State Primary School, Elioparanwo, in the West Stake.
Others include clean-up at Comprehensive Primary Health Centre, Oyigbo in the East Stake, and general sanitation at Abuloma Town Hall, desilting of drainages at Peter Odili Road, Ogbunabali and Trans Amadi Abattoir in the Port Harcourt Stake.
In Okrika District, the church took its sanitation exercise to Onne market, Bonny centre, Taabaa market and Onyeadah bridge.
Speaking shortly after the programme, the President of Port Harcourt Nigeria South Stake, Eric Aganbi said the outreach was designed to promote good neighbourliness among mankind, saying that, “anything that has to do with God is service.
“We carry out these services every year. This is a policy of the church. It is called “All African Service Project”.
“One of our great prophet leaders, Mosiah, in the book of Momon, said ‘when we are in service of our fellow men, we are in service of God’.
“As a church that is what we do to better the lives of people where we worship”.
