Dickson Appoints Eight LGA Reps
The Bayelsa State Gover
nor, Hon.Seriake Dickson has appointed eight special representatives in the local government areas of the state with a mandate to work closely with the leadership of the councils, co-ordinate their activities and report back to him on regular basis.
The appointees are Frank Bekebo for Southern Ijaw, Eselema Gbaranbiri- for kolokuma/Opokuma, Patterson Ikpi for Yenagoa, and Mr. Luke Godday- for Sagbama local government.
Others are, Barr. Japan Odoji for Ekeremor, Chief Osain Olalibo-Ibokolo for Ogbia, Chief Kenhabo Monday-Degi for Nembe and Mr. Esau Andrew- for Brass local government.
Dickson, while speaking at their inauguration ceremony at Government House, Yenagoa, described their assignment as crucial and dimensional, as they were expected to give accurate reports on the security situation in the various local government areas and carry out government’s directives.
He stated that, the special representatives also have the responsibility of adopting the right strategies and network with stakeholders at the third tier of the government, towards bringing about political stability, for the Peoples Democratic Party and the government at that level.
His words: “Don’t let anybody create any impression that, this appointments have been made to advance any particular clique’s interest. I expect you to go back to your local government areas; work with the leadership of your local government areas, consult with those that need to be consulted, expand the base of your team and I don’t want politics of cliques, elections are over in this state.
”I will hold a joint meeting with you, the chairmen of councils and the caucus leaders of the party and of the state government to make sure that you all work together in your local government areas.”
Responding on behalf the Special Representatives, Mr. Eselema Gbaranbiri expressed appreciation to Governor Dickson for the appointment and assured that, they would work hard to deliver on the mandate assigned to them.
