Konya, Buhari, Others Bag NES Awards
The Rivers State Commissioner for Environmen, Prof Roseline Konya, was among other distinguished Nigerians conferred with Lifetime Awards and Fellowship of the Nigerian Environmental Society.
The other distinguished Nigerians include; President Muhammadu Buhari, Minister of Environment, Amina Mohammed and Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State.
The awards were conferred during the society’s national conference, recently in Abuja.
In a statement in Port Harcourt, Permanent Secretary, Rivers State Ministry of Environment, Dame Josephine Chukuigwe described the award which is the highest in the environment sector as a testament of Konya’s hardwork and contributions to sustainable environmental management in the country.
Reacting on the award in Port Harcourt, Chukuigwe said that Konya, who is a Professor of Animal and Environmental Biology, and a renowned biologist and toxicologist, deserves the award in view of her achievements in the environment sector.
The Permanent Secretary urged the Commissioner to use the award to sustain the quest for environmental sustainability in the Governor Nyesom Wike-led administration in the state.
She also used the occasion to congratulate the Commissioner for the feat.
