‘Wike Dedicated To Care Of The Weak’
The Rivers State Deputy Governor, Dr. Ipalibo Harry Banigo, says the directive by Governor Nyesom Wike to all his commissioners and Special Advisers to compulsorily purchase 10 lottery tickets of ‘Win A Trip To Israel’ (WATTI) for the less privileged in the state was a demonstration of the political will to institutionalize the culture of giving and sacrifice among politicians and public office holders.
Banigo, in a statement by her Press Secretary, Paul Damgbor, said the directive was in line with Wike’s social contract to bridge the wide gap and social disequilibrium between the rich and the poor in the society.
The deputy governor further observed that in spite of the dwindling revenue base of the state from federal allocation, the state government has set aside N23 million to sponsor the less privileged and ministers of God in the state, who are interested to visit the Holy Land for the 2016 Christian Pilgrimage.
She urged all citizens of the state to embrace the new philosophy of sacrifice and ‘be your brothers’ keeper’ of the Wike-led administration, stressing that the era when access to Christian Pilgrimage to Israel was based on connection or relationship with those at the corridors of power was over.
Banigo called for all hands to be on deck in building a state based on the fear of God and prudent management of resources.
