Banigo Tasks ONELGA On Peace …Felicitates With Ikuru on 50th Birthday
The Rivers State Deputy Governor, Dr Ipalibo Harry Banigo, has called on stakeholders in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area (ONELGA), to set aside their political inclinations and work collectively for the speedy restoration of peace in the area.
Banigo, in a press statement by her Press Secretary, Paul Damgbor, urged opinion leaders from the area to come together to fish out the perpetrators of the heinous crime against humanity, adding that some politicians have capitalised on the situation to cast aspersions on perceived political opponents.
She described it as a dangerous trend that has generated unnecessary tension in the area.
She commended the state Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, for personally visiting ONELGA to address the people, noting that the visit has inspired hope and confidence in the residents of the area.
Banigo advised youth to embrace peace and shun cultism, kidnapping and all forms of crime as such activities were inimical to their destiny and would retard development of their areas.
According to her, “the Wike-led Government is committed to implementing his development blue print that would improve the living condition of all parts of the state. We must not drive away Investors by allowing enemies of progress to cause harm in the name of cult related crimes.”
The deputy governor noted that the plan by the governor to kick-start the clay factory in Egi Land was on course, and solicited the support and co-operation of all to enable the state government actualize the project.
Meanwhile, Rivers State Deputy Governor, Dr Ipalibo Harry-Banigo has felicitated with the former Deputy Governor of the state, Engr Tele Ikuru on the attainment of a golden age of 50 years today.
Banigo, in a statement by her Press Secretary, Paul Damgbor congratulated Engr Ikuru on his birthday anniversary, noting that his years have been characterized with peace and filled with service to humanity.
She described the immediate past Deputy Governor of the state, Engr Tele Ikuru as a hardworking, unassuming and patriotic man who cherishes the development of Rivers State above personal gains.
The Deputy Governor expressed gratitude to God for his mercies and grace for her predecessor and prayed that the Almighty God continue to grant him good health.A

RSG INAUGURATES ARMED FORCES REMEMBRANCE DAY COMMITTEE
The Rivers State Government has inaugurated a Central Planning Committee to organize the celebration of the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day (AFRD) in the State.
The committee was formally inaugurated by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Benibo Anabraba in Port Harcourt, last Thursday.
Dr Anabraba who also serves as Chairman of the Committee
highlighted the State Government’s deep appreciation for the sacrifices of Nigeria’s fallen heroes who laid down their lives for the nation’s peace and unity.
“These heroes have given their lives for the security and peace of our nation and deserve to be celebrated. The Armed Forces Remembrance Day is an opportunity to show our gratitude for their sacrifice,” he said.
Dr. Anabraba further extended recognition to all Security Agencies in the State, emphasizing the importance of the event in appreciating their contributions to national security and sovereignty.
The annual Armed Forces Remembrance Day, observed on January 15 across the country is dedicated to remember Nigeria’s departed soldiers and honouring the nation’s veterans.
