Ember Months: FRSC To Partner Media On Safety Campaign
The Federal Road
Safety Commission (FRSC), in Akwa Ibom, has appealed to journalists to help publicise its safety campaign for motorists as EMBER months set in.
Commander of FRSC in the State, Mrs Cecila Alao, made the appeal during a courtesy visit to the Chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), in the state, Mr Patrick Albert, in Uyo yesterday.
Alao noted that the last four months of the year, tagged EMBER months, usually witnessed upsurge in vehicle movements and the number of travellers.
“As we embark on safety campaign and enlightenment, we need the cooperation of the media in the state.
“We need you to tell the people what we are doing, we sincerely need your collaboration”, Alao stressed.
The sector commander noted that the rate of crashes in Akwa Ibom was not alarming and promised to keep it at the barest minimum.
Alao thanked the union for the cooperation the commission had enjoyed from the body over the years and also appreciated Akwa Ibom Government for building good roads for motorists.
Responding, Albert promised to maintain the good working relationship between the union and FRSC.
The chairman noted that road safety was critical to the wellbeing of the society.
He appealed to government to equip the commission for effective service delivery.
Albert said FRSC personnel conducted themselves in orderly manner while on routine checks and traffic control.
He promised that the union and its members would join hands with the commission to enlighten the populace and motorists during the EMBER months.
